The International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea apply at all times between race boats and all non race boats.
Any overtaking boat must give way to the overtaken boat/s. The inside boat has established its right of way when its bow becomes level with the other boat/s‟ transom. The overtaking boat is deemed to have overtaken once Its transom is clear of the overtaken boat‟s bow. Powerboat racing is a non-contact sport. Any boats involved in a collision may be penalised.
